Once Powder was stable enough, the deputies gently lifted him into their car and reached out to Dezzy’s Animal Rescue for immediate help. It quickly became clear that if no one had found him that day, he would not have survived much longer in the swamp. A medical examination revealed the true extent of his suffering. Not only was Powder battling an internal infection, but his body was also covered in a painful rash. Even worse, both of his eyes were swollen from a severe condition called entropion, where the eyelids turn inward and the lashes scrape against the eyeball with every blink.
These findings showed just how long this poor dog had been enduring agony in silence. Each day he had fought to stay alive while his body betrayed him, yet still he clung to hope until help finally arrived. For Powder, the rescue was not just about survival, it was a chance to finally be free from the pain he had carried for so long.
He needed eye sᴜʀɢᴇʀʏ after his infection subsided. Cared for day and night, this is probably a long way for Powder. However, he is now said to be safe in the arms of those who have much love. Even so, it’s certain that Powder will still be haunted by what he’s been through. It was a horrifying experience on him. We really hope Powder will recover soon and find a good family for him, a family that loves him and never abandons him.
