Jennifer McKee is an avid dog rescuer in the San Antonio area and always keeps an eye out for pups who need help. When she saw a Facebook post about a mom dog and two puppies who were abandoned in a park, she immediately drove over to help them.
When McKee arrived at the park, she found the little family huddled up on a rain-soaked blanket together. She approached them slowly, as she was worried about scaring them — but as it turned out, they were more than ready to be rescued.
The San Antonio dog dumping situation is out if control. Found this mama and two puppies today dumped off of a busy road park like trash. Dumper left a blanket which was soaked from the rain. All three are safe and home with me. San Antonio needs a major education on how to be a responsible pet owner. Dumping animals is a felony in Texas.
“They were sleeping, so I was quiet and slow,” McKee told The Dodo. “I didn’t speak, just offered the mama some turkey. She took it and was starving, licking the bowl like crazy. Rescue pups in the car going home last night. So thirsty! The mama proceeded to throw up in my car twice shortly after this video was made. She hasnt vomited since.
McKee was able to easily load the mom and two puppies into her car and get them situated. She had no idea how long they’d been out there, but it was clear they hadn’t been loved or cared for in a very long time.
Pups update. They are safe and warm. Should I wait to give them baths? They smell horrible I was hoping to bathe them tomorrow. Mama has a cough and shes emaciated.
“The mama was skin and bones, [her] skin and fur a mess,” McKee said. “The puppies looked good considering how they were found.”
McKee got the little family checked out by a vet and is now fostering them until they’re able to be adopted. They may never have known love before, but their foster family is making sure that all three will never know anything but joy ever again.
Just another beautiful day with the pups! They love the backyard and patio. Mama likes to sit on the patio and watch her pride. Its warm in San Antonio! 81 degrees today.
With some help from people on TikTok, the mom dog is now named Nova, and her puppies are Peaches and Tank. The little family has since been shopping, gotten pup cups and even met Santa. They’re being spoiled rotten, which is exactly what they’ve always deserved.
“Mama sat so nice with Santa and we have beautiful photos to show their future forever families,” McKee wrote on TikTok.
The pups met Santa today @Down on Grayson with @SNIPSA! Beautiful fundraising event. Santa loves puppies! Mama sat so nice with santa and we have beautiful photos to show their future forever families! We had so much fun.
McKee can’t wait to find all three their forever homes soon, and will make sure they go to homes that will love and spoil them just as much as she has.
