“They don’t understand why their world changed.”

These two sweet senior dogs should be enjoying their golden years surrounded by the comfort and love of family. But instead, they’ve found themselves without both.
This week, Indiana’s Humane Society for Hamilton County shared the heartbreaking story of Woody and Bear — two bonded 12-year-old pug mixes who, up until recently, had a place to call their own.
“[They were] surrendered after a lifetime with one family because of a lack of commitment from their owner,” the shelter wrote in a post.

Though details are vague regarding the pups’ former family, or the circumstances leading up to their surrender, it’s been an understandably difficult transition for Woody and Bear.
“They don’t understand why their world changed,” the shelter wrote. “Why their soft beds disappeared. Why, after 12 years of being good boys … they’re starting over.”
For now, all Woody and Bear have one another — but with any luck, that too will change for the better.

Staff at the Humane Society for Hamilton County are hoping to find a new family for Woody and Bear, where they can live out their final years in a happy, welcoming place. They deserve nothing less.
“These sweet boys still have so much love to give,” the shelter wrote. “More than anything, they just want to stay together in a home where they can rest their heads side by side, just like they always have.”

Pink, Wrinkly Puppy Completely Transforms After Finally Feeling Loved
“Despite all of this discomfort and pain, she is so sweet and patient.”
By Ashley Ortiz
In May 2023, the folks at Beagles and Bentleys discovered a young puppy in desperate condition at a shelter. The puppy, a pit bull-mix, had no fur — instead, her bare skin was pink, wrinkly and inflamed. So the Beagles and Bentleys crew decided to save her.
“The fact that she, in just her short three months of life, had developed to a state of severe neglect is incredibly overwhelming and disheartening,” Beagles and Bentleys’ McKenzie Licata told The Dodo in a recent video. “You could tell she just hurt so badly.”
