“Thank God that box was very strong!”

Earlier this week, Yasmin Saraiva was at home in Guarulhos, Brazil, when she heard a commotion on the street outside her apartment window. She looked down to see a small crowd was gathered, gazing up in her direction.
The crowd alerted Saraiva that her upstairs neighbor’s dog was in serious danger.

Turns out, the dog had passed through an open top story window that’s covered in a protective netting. Though the netting is secured across at the base of the window, it’s more sparsely attached up top.
The dog was stuck — sandwiched between the netting and a shutter — and in a panic, she unfortunately began to climb.
Realizing that the dog, named Alicinha, had reached an opening at the top of the netting and was at risk of falling, Saraiva sprang into action.
“I didn’t think, I just acted,” Saraiva told The Dodo. “I looked around and found a box.”
Here’s dramatic footage of what happened next:

“Thank God that box was very strong!” Saraiva said. “It managed to hold the dog.”
Saraiva had caught her — and thankfully, little Alicinha escaped the situation completely unharmed.
“She became my friend as if nothing had happened,” Saraiva told a local news outlet. “It almost gave me a heart attack. But she just sat there in my living room and stared at the TV.”
Elsewhere, Saraiva’s actions weren’t so quickly glossed over.

“A true hero!” one commenter on the video wrote.
“What an example of courage and compassion,” another wrote. “The world needs more people like this!”
According to Saraiva, Alicinha is doing well and has since been reunited with her owner.

Grieving Family Visited By ‘Ghost’ Of Late Dog One Year After His Passing
“It was awesome” ❤️
By Ashley Ortiz
Five years ago, Ashley Lewis and her husband surprised their children with a gift they’d always wanted: a sweet little French bulldog named Baby.
Baby connected instantly with Lewis’ four children, all of whom felt comforted by the pup’s presence after a cross-country move.
“He was just such a joy to our family after moving,” Lewis told The Dodo. “He had the greatest personality … he was a family member.”

Sadly, after four blissful years together, Baby suddenly passed away last summer, leaving his family devastated.
“We had never had a pet before, and I never understood [the pain],” Lewis said. “We had a memorial service for him. It took a very, very long time to just not be so sad about it. It was definitely a heartbreak.”

For the following year, the Lewis family mourned the loss of Baby. They found comfort watching videos of Baby, collecting stuffed animals that looked like him and talking about him as much as possible.
As much as the Lewis family loved Baby, they weren’t sure they’d ever have a dog again due to the pain. Until, on a bright summer day, one year after Baby’s death, they received an unexpected visit from someone who looked just like him.

Lewis’ son was alone in their outdoor school room when a tan French bulldog he’d never seen before strolled inside. The boy was stunned. On one hand, the visitor’s fur was a different color than Baby’s, but they were identical in every other way.
“He has the exact personality of our dog,” Lewis said. “He was just kind of like, ‘Um, yeah, you’re my family now.’ He acted like we were the owners and that he did not have any other owners.”

The dog sauntered up to Lewis’ son for attention, just like Baby would do with strangers. Before long, the rest of the Lewis family arrived home, and everyone instantly fell in love with the strange pup, whom they named Graham Cracker.
Lewis could tell that the dog was well-fed and likely had a family nearby, but Graham Cracker didn’t seem concerned about going home. He was too busy playing with the Lewis kids, who were still shocked by his resemblance to Baby.
“So, this is the ghost of Baby?” Lewis’ son asked in a video posted on Instagram.
You can see that moment here:
The family walked around looking for Graham Cracker’s family and posted about him online. He spent the night with them while they searched, and the following day, they finally located his parents.
The Lewis family quickly learned that Graham Cracker’s name was Rocco, and that he lived just a few doors down with a family and kids just like theirs. It appeared that he’d escaped while the family was gone for the day and decided to go looking for a family like his to play with.
Rocco’s parents were apologetic to the Lewis’, but the family wasn’t angry at all. They were overjoyed to have met Rocco and offered to babysit him in the future.

Rocco soon returned home with his family, but the Lewises haven’t forgotten him. They’re still in touch with his owners, whom they now consider friends. While their hearts still hurt over the loss of Baby, meeting Rocco and his family has offered a new kind of healing they never expected.
“With Rocco came these amazing neighbors that we had never met face-to-face,” Lewis said. “It was awesome.”
