She’d almost given up hope …
Published on Oct 6, 2023 at 3:25 PM
A group of people were out for a walk in the Philippines when they spotted a plastic box on the side of the road. The box had been cut and taped in different spots and even had some chicken wire covering parts of it. Concerned, the group got a little closer to take a look — and noticed a face peeking through the wire.

At first glance, the animal inside was unrecognizable. She was super skinny and missing a ton of fur. It was clear she needed help as quickly as possible, so the group freed her from the box and quickly determined that she was a dog, even though she barely looked like one.
Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF) came out to collect the dog, later named Daisy, and as soon as they saw her, they knew they had their work cut out for them. As long as Daisy didn’t give up, though, neither would they.

“When approached, Daisy was quiet [and] appeared terrified and confused,” Heidi M. Caguioa, program director at AKF, told The Dodo. “Possibly just feeling indifferent already about what [would] happen to her.”
Daisy’s rescuers rushed her to the vet and started her on treatment for her skin infections right away. They got to work making her comfortable and earning her trust. It wasn’t easy, but little by little, Daisy began to transform before their eyes.

Now, Daisy is completely healed — and looks and acts absolutely nothing like she did the day she was found.
“She loves to be cuddled and be with humans,” Caguioa said. “She is still fearful at first but warms up to people in just a snap.”

Daisy was recently adopted by a family who had been searching for a dog just like her and has settled in beautifully to her new home. She’s come such a long way from the mystery animal in the box, and she’s never looking back.

Woman Grooms Her Dogs And Can’t Stop Laughing When She Sees Her Cat’s Reaction
The cat was a little confused 😂
About a year ago, Franzlei Yuson welcomed a cat named Kimchi into her family. Yuson was delighted to find that Kimchi instantly got along well with her two Shih Tzus, Koa and Kumi.
Over the past year, Kimchi, Koa and Kumi have grown even more comfortable with each other and have developed a close friendship.

“[Kimchi] will cuddle up with them sometimes,” Yuson told The Dodo. “They’ll just sit there together on the couch.”
But the other day, Kimchi started hissing at the two dogs, seemingly out of the blue. For a second, Yuson was perplexed. Then she realized what had changed: Koa and Kumi had just gotten groomed.
About once or twice a year, Yuson’s husband will fully shave off Koa and Kumi’s fur to get their skin extra clean and give them a reset. Because the dogs get shaved so infrequently, Kimchi didn’t know what was going on.

“That was the first time she saw them like that, looking completely different,” Yuson said.
It quickly became clear to Yuson that Kimchi didn’t recognize Koa and Kumi without their fur and was disturbed by the presence of who she thought were two “intruders.”
“[S]he did the angry cat position and hissed at them,” Yuson said. “And she’s never done [that], ever, even when she first came.”
Meanwhile, Koa and Kumi didn’t understand why Kimchi was so upset. They rolled around playfully in front of her, unaware that anything was wrong.
“The dogs didn’t even have any idea what was going on,” Yuson said.

Kimchi, feeling deeply unsettled by the two strange dogs who’d appeared in her home, isolated herself in the guest room.
“She hid upstairs for four hours,” Yuson said. “We didn’t force her to come out or anything because I felt so bad. Even though it was funny, I felt kind of bad.”
Eventually, Kimchi emerged from the guest room and warily approached Koa and Kumi. She sniffed them a few times, which helped her realize these dogs weren’t strangers, they were her siblings.

“[W]ithin just those ten minutes, she was back to normal, once she realized it was them,” Yuson said.

Kimchi, Koa and Kumi have gone back to peacefully coexisting. But only time will tell whether Kimchi will react the same way the next time they get shaved.
