“I [was] like, ‘What’s that in front of me?’”

A few days ago, Texas resident Bita Ghassemi was driving down a back road outside Austin when she stopped to admire some cows. As she was looking out the window, all of a sudden, she noticed four little animals approaching her.
“I [was] like, ‘What’s that in front of me?’” Ghassemi told The Dodo. “I couldn’t tell at first, and [then] I was, like, ‘Oh my goodness, I think those are puppies.’”
The puppies ran right up to Ghassemi, wagging their tails in excitement. They trusted her instantly. Ghassemi was shocked — she had no idea where they’d come from.
At first, Ghassemi thought the puppies might have belonged to someone in the neighborhood. But after talking to several nearby homeowners who didn’t recognize the babies, Ghassemi realized they’d been abandoned. She gave them some water, which seemed like the first drink they’d had in days.
“[T]hey were hot and thirsty and hungry, and their ribs were showing,” Ghassemi said. “And I was like, ‘OK, these puppies clearly need help immediately.’”
Ghassemi drove the puppies to her friend’s house in Austin. During the car ride, the babies were calm and quiet. For the first time in a while, they had a comfortable place to rest.
Ghassemi and three of her friends, Ellen Culver, Jane Hervey and Nedda, who preferred to have her last name omitted, put their heads together to make sure the puppies were taken care of. Culver bathed the puppies, Nedda took the puppies in, Hervey reached out to potential adopters and Ghassemi shared their story on TikTok.
As the puppies decompressed, their little personalities started to show. Honey, the only girl, was calm and laid-back, Walnut was shy but liked getting lots of attention, Tiger was cuddly and chatty, and Finn was independent and playful.
Other than being underweight, the 4-month-old puppies luckily didn’t have any health concerns. Their caretakers focused on getting them lots of filling, nutritious food to make up for missed meals.
Within just a few days, all four puppies were adopted. Ghassemi was overjoyed that the adorable, sweet babies had found loving families so quickly. Now, all of them get to relax and be pampered in their forever homes.
“It’s just been incredible to see the outpouring of love,” Ghassemi said. “I really hope that it inspires people not to drive past stray animals and help them too.”

Heartbroken Senior Dog Watches Everyone Walk Past Her At Adoption Event
“And this is the moment I sobbed” 💔
By Ashley Ortiz
Within minutes of welcoming a temporary foster dog into her home late last year, Sophie Vershbow knew the pup was special. 10-year-old Popcorn, whom Vershbow lovingly called Poppy, spent years as an overlooked shelter dog in Dallas, Texas, but she had the perfect demeanor to be someone’s forever friend.
“One day with Poppy, and I’m convinced that she would be the perfect dog for an elderly person looking for a low-maintenance companion,” Vershbow wrote on X. “She’s already 10, moves slowly and does her business right outside the house. They could live out their golden years together.”
