“He conned us all, even the vet.”

After their family was no longer able to care for them properly, Rambo and Diesel were taken in by Humane Society of Monroe County. Both dogs were underweight and needed a lot of TLC, but before long, Diesel was healthy again and was quickly adopted. Rambo was another story — or so his rescuers thought.
At 10 years old, Rambo was an old man who had trouble getting around. He could barely walk without wobbling, and it seemed what he needed was a family who could provide a hospice situation where he could live out the rest of his days in peace.
One of the staff members at the shelter, Morgan, was having trouble saying goodbye to Rambo each night and decided she would be the hospice home he was looking for. The shelter sent Rambo home with their employee, hearts full — until they realized they’d been bamboozled.
“Every once in a while we get a dog in that completely deceives us,” Humane Society of Monroe County wrote on Facebook. “This time it is Rambo. He is a 10 year old feeble old man who could hardly walk. We sent him home with two lovely ladies to live out the last of his life. But Rambo is a big, fat fibber!”
As it turns out, Rambo had been faking his feebleness all along. Once he was adopted, he let his true nature shine through. The senior pup loves to run, chase toys and is even a bit of an escape artist. There’s nothing weak or feeble about him.
“He conned us all, even the vet. He likes to play ball, run (even if a little wobbly) and even hopped a short fence just to prove who he is,” Jackie Monteer, director of Humane Society of Monroe County, told The Dodo.
Now that Rambo is home, though, his new family couldn’t be happier about it. He’s a bit different than they originally thought, but his adorable con just makes them love him all the more.
“The joy this dog brings is immeasurable,” Monteer said. “He loves life, and we love him. We couldn’t be happier for Rambo or more grateful to Morgan for taking this big loveable faker home.”

‘Terrified’ Survivor Kitten Has Sweetest Reaction To Making His First Friend
“[They] have been cuddling and following each other around ever since.”
By Ashley Ortiz
It was a quiet afternoon in mid-2024 when a shopkeeper in San Francisco, California, spotted something ary in his market. A tiny, fluffy customer had entered the store and was hobbling through the aisles, searching for help.
“[T]he owner of the Corner Market at 3rd and Kirkwood noticed a small, black kitten limping through his store and immediately knew he had to help,” Friends of San Francisco Animal Care & Control (SFACC) wrote in a press release shared with The Dodo. “The kitten was in distress and clearly in pain, prompting the owner to bring him to SFACC.”
